Become a volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to help. We invite you to share in giving a few hours each week or month or a few days each year. Our volunteers are part of a network of caring people dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others. Our mission is only possible with the dedication of volunteers like you.

01.

Why Invest?

First and foremost, by donating to a nonprofit organization, you will be able to support causes which you feel are important directly, without having to become physically involved.

You will feel better about yourself after helping to support a children’s charity or a blood drive because you will know that you have done something that may save lives or help others who are less fortunate.

03.

Making an impact

The impact of a nonprofit is frequently gauged by the reach and effectiveness of its services.

House of Hope is striving hard to make a positive impact on children, families, and communities, as we continue to seek a healthy and equitable society because opportunity, health, safety, economic security, and overall well-being remains a consistent issue for millions of Americans.

About House of Hope

House of Hope CDC, a 501(c)3 organization, opened its doors in 2016 to address the needs of Charlotte, NC, a city where impoverished neighborhoods lie in the shadows of communities of affluence. While Charlotte has recently emerged as an economic powerhouse that yields one of the highest personal income levels in the state, the city’s racial, educational and economic divides have left many residents who live in the poorer neighborhoods unable to share in the city’s remarkable progress. As a nonprofit, community development corporation, we are developing programs to help revitalize disenfranchised neighborhoods and give residents the opportunity to not only take advantage of the resources we offer, but to also become involved in the solution so that new hope can be infused in the lives of those who have so much to contribute to our communities.

Our mission is to...

The mission of HOHCDC is to identify the comprehensive challenges that threaten the well-being of the residents and businesses of Charlotte, build relationships within the community, and develop practical solutions that will improve access to adequate food, shelter, healthcare, education, employment, life skills training, youth empowerment, social resources, and business resources.

"We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference." We each have to do OUR part.

Give help where it's needed most

With so much happening around the world and within Charlotte, NC, it can be hard to decide where your money can have the greatest impact. That’s why giving a gift to House of Hope is a wise choice. With your help, we can respond quickly to urgent needs, to help the most vulnerable children and families. Whether it’s providing emergency assistance, or helping us partner within communities for long-term solutions, you can be confident that your gift will be put to good use where it’s needed most.

What We Do

We are building relationships in the community to address the needs that have the highest priority.

Education

Why do we believe education is important in everyone's life? We believe imparting knowledge into all mankind is critical to their decision-making skills, how they view life and be able to manage life with a positive perspective. We do believe if individuals know better, they will do better!

Food and Nutrition

It is our goal to provide emergency food to individuals and families once a month, or sooner if extreme circumstances dictate otherwise. The emergency food is of a non-perishable (canned good items) nature. As we partner with other organizations we will serve hot meals and become a food bank.

Community Service & Outreach

Our Community and Outreach area is the foremost frontline of service. We assist either directly or indirectly (through referrals). Though our scope of service is set five distinct areas (rent/mortgage, utilities, emergency financial assistance, emergency food, and bus tokens, transportation assistance, we make a heartfelt attempt to assist whom we can.)

Economic Development

The Economic Development division aims to offer programs, financial education, and resources for individuals and families that will create momentum for ongoing improvements in the lives of people who live and work in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and surrounding communities.

Causes that can't wait

#GivingTuesday

There's never been a better time to join #GivingTuesday! We are fortunate to have a day full of chances to improve the lives of others through our generosity. Join us as we work to raise $10,000 to help our underserved youth get access to mentoring and educational opportunities. Through our various programs, your generosity will help our youth improve their skills and find better employment. Make a donation to our disadvantaged youth, and after you do, please don't be hesitant to share this page with your loved ones and post about our fundraising on social media. Let's work together to give them wonderful, meaningful lives.

Youth Initiatives

We have developed leadership programs for males and females ages 12-20 years of age who are currently in impoverished or underprivileged communities. Our programs offer each participant academic support, job preparation, training and placement, and entrepreneurial development. Throughout the academic year, participants will be engaged in group tutoring, mentoring, a series of professional development workshops and a host of other activities geared toward preparing the next generation for success.

Food & Nutrition Program

It is our goal to provide emergency food to individuals and families once a month, or sooner if extreme circumstances dictate otherwise. The emergency food is of a non-perishable (canned good items) nature.

Youth Empowerment

Youth empowerment can be defined as the process whereby youth and young adults gain education and utilize authority to make informed decisions and implement change in their lives as well as the lives of others.
